There is no case against guns--Case dismissed with prejudice

What are the gun laws in Italy?

What are the gun laws in Italy?
The Italian Constitution recognizes the right to keep and bear arms, however different types of gun licenses can be obtained from the national police authorities. According to a 2007 study by The Small Arms Survey Project, the per capita gun ownership rate in Italy is around 12% with an estimated 7 million registered firearms in circulation.
To legally purchase firearms in Italy one must be issued with a carry license first. To obtain such a license applicants must be 18 or older, prove they can handle and use a firearm safely (usually by obtaining a certificate from a shooting range after attending a practical shooting course), declare to have a clean criminal record (verification will be made by the Police authorities) and must not be mentally ill or be a known abuser of, or addicted to, alcohol or illegal drugs.
Citizens are allowed to own:
- up to three common firearms (usually handguns, but all firearms not using hunting calibers fall into this category, such as 10-gauge shotguns, or some .22 rimfire pistols and rifles);
up to six weapons that have been classified as manufactured for shooting sports by the National Proof House;
an unlimited number of hunting weapons (both rifles and shotguns);
up to eight antique or historical weapons (manufactured before 1890);
unlimited numbers of single shot muzzle loader replicas, for which no registration is needed;
unlimited numbers of airguns under 7.5 Joules of muzzle energy, specifically approved by the Ministry of Interior, which require no registration as well.

Gun-Confiscating Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin Sentenced to 10 Years in Federal Prison July 11, 2014
after a lengthy legal battle over the unconstitutional confiscation of lawfully owned firearms during Hurricane Katrina, the City of New Orleans agreed to settle a lawsuit initiated by NRA. A permanent injunction was issued against the city, and then-Mayor Ray Nagin. The Second Amendment Foundation assisted NRA in the legal battle against Mayor Nagin and the City of New Orleans.
Judge Carl J. Barbier presided over the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Judge Barbier signed the permanent injuncation against the City of New Orleans. The city admitted the firearm confiscations carried out by Nagin were unconstitutional and illegal.
This week, the embattled Nagin was sentenced to 10 years in prison for public corruption.

Really? And how, exactly (please be precise and detailed) do you plan to ensure that doesn't happen?Tero wrote:When we get Hillary elected, these are the people who will never get a gun in out new gun lawHaskell had a handful of previous run-ins with law enforcement in Utah, where he had lived with his wife. Are you going to assign them a full-time minder or something?

What happens when a routine NRA-supported OTC firearm purchase background check turns up an escalating series of DV arrests that haven't gone to court yet?

Re: Another shot at the case against gnus
If the person is the subject of a DV restraining order, which in many places is automatically issued when the complaint is filed by the police, the person is disqualified to possess ANY firearm, or ammunition, at least until the case is resolved. Even a misdemeanor DV charge for an act that "qualifies" as DV under federal law can PERMANENTLY disqualify a person from possessing a gun.piscator wrote:Seth wrote:Really? That's completely wrong in my book, but that's what the federal law says.

Re: Another shot at the case against gnus
So, the most dangerous guns in America are pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, and derringers. Well, the pretty much covers everything except muskets, eh?
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Re: Another shot at the case against gnus
Guaranteed: Most viewers of that clickbait never got past the "Pistols" page. I felt like a shmooh for going that deep. Fucking social engineering...

Re: Another shot at the case against gnus
I'm sure a lot of people will now go out and argue that they only want to ban the most dangerous weapons, you know, those pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns and derringers. After all, they have such a piece of meticulous, peer-reviewed research to back them up. And we can still have muskets, so no violations of the 2nd, eh? Maybe I should invest in a Brown Bess factory, or take up flint knapping and arrow fletching.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Re: Another shot at the case against gnus
I used to own a fletching jig. You could adjust the helical in either vanes or feathers to tune the flight of a shaft/broadhead/bow weight combination. You set the pitch of the spiral and chose feather size and color and thread the 3 feathers in the 3 slots, then you just ran a ultrafine bead of glue up the quill faying surface, inserted the shaft in a collar, and tightened a wingnut to lightly press the 3 vanes to the shaft in 1 go. Cost, like, $90 used. 1 arrow/time. I don't remember taking a loss when I sold it.laklak wrote:I'm sure a lot of people will now go out and argue that they only want to ban the most dangerous weapons, you know, those pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns and derringers. I shot a doe through both lungs one time from a tree stand. She jumped at the sound of the bowstring on reflex, but the arrow took her as she dropped to gather for the spring (a ground ape has to gauge for that reflex drop when he places his 60-foot shot on a highly tuned whitetail nervous system with a 300fps arrow from 22 feet up a tree).
The deer landed about 4 feet and 90 degrees from where she jumped, took a quick look around, and started eating another acorn, the bloody arrow stuck in the ground almost below her tail.. She swallowed the acorn, went down for another, and coughed blood. Then she shot off directly toward me and right under my tree stand. She made it about 40 yards from where the arrow stuck in the ground before before she fell over sideways at a run and skidded on the white oak leaves. The entire assassination took maybe 10 seconds from release of the arrow, which severed the deer's aorta as it passed through both lungs.
But the humane execution was a result of 10 years of learning how to find deer by sign of their passage, learning the whitetail's natural history, needs, and habits well enough to figure out what the critters were doing and why, and when and how to put myself within 20 yards of the animal undetected in broad daylight, and to finally place my shot low enough to kill the animal almost instantly.
Being able to put meat on the table with a bow on any kind of regular basis is not a casual thing. Only about 20% of deer hunters do it, and of those 20% that hunt with a bent stick, 20% are responsible for 80% of the kills. So 4% of whitetail deer hunters commit 80% of whitetail assassinations with arrows.
But none of this has any more to do with the 2A than who shoots who with what guns in contravention of existing laws, does it?

No, but if we stuck with the 2nd these threads would be over in the first post.

OK, somebody will start arguing "well regulated militia", or start talking about muskets and swords, so sometimes you have to post it again. It's like dealing with a 3 year old.

I've never bow hunted, it sounds like far too much work for an old man. Actually most hunting is too much like hard work, what with mosquitoes and chiggers and all that stuff. I prefer to let the youngsters go get the meat, as a Tribal Elder they have to give me the choice bits.
