Re: Evil Women of History
Mother Theresa collected millions and millions worth of donations that she said were going to help the poor, but because she was of the opinion that "the world is being much helped by the suffering of the poor people" almost all of the money went into evangelising efforts, while the poor in her "care" lived in extremely squalid conditions, until they died needlessly. I think she was made a saint for that.

Sorry, you can't compare business acumen with callous murder. Therasa was just pushing her corner. Hitchens was wrong to malign her for that.Hermit wrote:Mother Theresa collected millions and millions worth of donations that she said were going to help the poor, but because she was of the opinion that "the world is being much helped by the suffering of the poor people" almost all of the money went into evangelising efforts, while the poor in her "care" lived in extremely squalid conditions, until they died needlessly. I'm not comparing anything or anyone. This is not a fucking competition. Maybe for you, but not for me. Mother Theresa was evil in her own right, and she did cause many deaths and massive suffering through her conduct. Her conduct was motivated by the notion that pain and suffering are good things.Scumple wrote:Sorry, you can't compare business acumen with callous murder. Therasa was just pushing her corner. She didn't make lampshades....and propaganda is in the ear of the beholder. No one needed to take her seriously. She wasn't running a prison camp.Hermit wrote:I'm not comparing anything or anyone. I was watching stuff over the new year about the old bag and it occurred to me that she might actually have been utterly insane. Watching some of those old speeches and interviews was like watching some daft woman who thought she was the queen and that for some reason, no-one ever pulled her up about her outrageous affectations or bafflingly patronising tone.Clinton Huxley wrote:Thatch, obv.
Evil nah? Demented and brutal sure. A throwback.
Jiang Qing was a total cunt.

Yes, her belief that there is no such thing as society in conjunction with her Prime Ministership gave her the immense scope to damage the fabric of an entire nation and throw millions of individuals on the industrial scrapheap so that the upper crust can lord it over its underlings more safely and effectively, that other libertarians can only envy from far below.Clinton Huxley wrote:Thatch, obv.

Re: Evil Women of History
Time to reiterate: I have no interest in comparisons nor in competitions. Theresa was evil (insofar as anyone can be called evil) in her own right.Scumple wrote:She didn't make lampshades....and propaganda is in the ear of the beholder. No one needed to take her seriously. You are on your own with your approach.

It's concept from the bible is is not? Hence Evil Women would be practically tautological.Clinton Huxley wrote:Does "evil" exist?

Shall we assume for the purposes of this thread that it does? Or start a separate thread on that question?Clinton Huxley wrote:Does "evil" exist?

I subscribe to gradients of evil. Most gradients in the female can go up a notch or down one depending on the time of month. Some folks see it black and white, they lack a shades of grey perspective.
