Re: Homosexuality on Children's Television Shows
This happened about 5 years ago. Caused a huge controversy. Can't find a video of it, but it was like a 2 minute clip from Play School, a popular Australian show for kids. Whether or not it was a reaction to the refusal of allowing same-sex couples to adopt, im not sure about. I thought it was kind...

Holy shit, nostalgia just hit me like a sledgehammer. Im only 19 but it makes me feel old when I consider it would be close to 12 years ago when I was watching that.ghatanothoa wrote:

Too obvious Ray, too obvious. I for one hope he gets hung out to dry for it.

Re: Aircraft Appreciation thread #3 - Beautiful Aircraft!
When i was in the US, I was quietly eating some cake at a friend of a friend's birthday party, and one of these bad boys flew directly overhead. One of the most awesome sights I've ever encountered. The sheer enormity of the damn thing was something I hadn't considered, but its fucking HUGE! Contras...

Spirituality
I'm not 100% sure if spirituality would be the thing to call it, but have there been any distinct moments in your life where you've had an awe inspiring feeling? Something that gave you a new appreciation or perspective on things? The first of mine would be at an observatory in a little country town...

Re: The brilliance of Calvin and Hobbs
Hmm.. I suspect it is an early one. The drawing looks less well developed. I think its been doctored after the fact. If you look at the panels some of the drawings are duplicated. To my knowledge Watterson was never that lazy. Also, the theme of the strip isn't something I've encountered before in ...

Re: The brilliance of Calvin and Hobbs
♥ Calvin and Hobbes. I own I think about 8 or 9 of the books :) The first strip there I don't think is an original, looks like a fan remake. Which one are you referring to? Not the above one surely. Only Waterson can draw that subtly and amazingly. I had all the books at one point too - a couple ha...

Re: Has anyone tried the "total ignorance" approach?
I had a great time when approached on the streets of San Fran by 2 fully suited teenage Mormons trying to peddle their wares. I said I would be happy to discuss religion with them, and for the next half hour they followed me around while i sightsaw and debated with them. I had a grand old time, thou...
