Re: Announcement about RDF Part 3.

You know what annoys me about RD.net? On rare occasions when an actual science finding or article is posted, the majority of comments always follow the same theme "Wonder what the creationists would make of this!" What a bunch of boring, small minded, monomaniacal cunts. Wonder what the creationist...

Re: What an arse.

"they help me to believe" seems like quite a nebulous phrase, it could just as much refer to the good of mankind as it could refer to god.

Re: The development of consciousness

Conciousness appears to be a spooky one. I suggest it doesn't exist. What doesn't exist does not require a explanation. We'll all be dead a lot longer than we're alive so this irritating qualia whose definition is undefined, merely to be experienced, will vanish over the long run. Over the full and...

If I was a Dawkins stalker I'd have been offended by your comment. By the way, atheism is a biscuit.

Re: The development of consciousness

Everything is conscious. What about when everything has too much to drink and needs its stomach pumped? Then it pukes into your mouth and then you spit it back out onto them, while Dawkins films it and then puts it on youtube for his japanese sicko friends to wank over. It's official, folks, atheis...

Re: The development of consciousness

I think that you'll end up in "just so story" territory wherever you go with this. The story of human evolution is still massively incomplete and no-one is on the same page regarding the philosophical and scientific definitions of consciousness. Then there's the whole issue of whether other animals ...

Re: More good movies we've seen.

Tron Legacy was OK, went to see it in IMAX. When I shelled out for tickets I wasn't expecting a nuanced plot and finely drawn characters. I was expecting to get fucked in the eyeballs. In the end I'd say that visually it was pretty good, in eyeball sex terms it wasn't a tantric weekend in a Bali hot...

Re: Life, work and meaning.

Borrowing from the sentiment of the OP and the spirit of the title, I would say that one of the prices of post-modern, democratic, capitalistic life is the loss of meaning. A hunter gatherer tribe may face challenges that we do not, but they do not have a lack of meaning in their lives. Everything t...

Re: Who's the shittiest scientist?

Bodhitharta. Who could forget Bodhitharta's Law....? You remember Bodhitharta's Law, right? Jude's hippie brother? He was an RDF legend, for a time. Coined his own Law that "proved" male and female "organs" could not have evolved. Your forgetting the important line of the equation: therefor...

Re: Who's the shittiest scientist?

Richard Feynman! I once picked up one of his academic papers, went straight to a random paragraph in the middle. DIDN'T UNDERSTAND A WORD OF IT!!! I thought to myself, this is just intellectual masturbation. I'm an intelligent guy, if I don't understand it , then it's obviously bollocks! Give me a r...

Re: Who's the shittiest scientist?

Oh yeah, Robert Hooke, what a pretentious fool. Not read any of his stuff but Newton didn't like him so that's good enough for me!
