Re: "Creationist schools" less likely in UK
From my read it means they will not get much, if any, government funding if they teach creationism. So the number would be limited by the amount of private funding they can get. As not that many people in the UK believe in creationism this would be small source of funds, I think. Unless they get th...

Re: RD.net to be re-revamped!
I also admire Jan for her good humour since she was one of the moderators who worked for free on your forum for several months before being jackbooted out, and who remains more competent than your current moderators. Thank you for the compliment Heather, it's most appreciated. I was a moderator the...

Re: RD.net to be re-revamped!
I've just seen that and I'm pleased he's read it. I have no quarrel with him or with the RDFRS and wish them both well. My main website for comments has been Rational Skepticism since the forum was closed but I still visit RDnet to read articles and occasionally post a comment. I don't post here at ...

Thanks Pen - they haven't deleted my post so I hope somebody who cares about RDFRS will read it.

Re: RD.net to be re-revamped!
... most charities are proud to be completely, cheerfully, aggressively transparent. After I started to follow what Responsible Charity does in Kolkata (Calcutta), and how OTT committed to transparency they are, my standards for how transparent charities can and should be have changed. It apparentl...

Re: RD.net to be re-revamped!
Indeed Robin, it's so exasperating to see balls-up after balls-up. I really would like RDFRS to make a difference and I'm sure they have some great people there if only they'd get the communication right and be more open. I haven't posted there in ages (although I read the articles regularly) but I'...

Re: RD.net to be re-revamped!
Flora - I think it's more the case that they need to be honest about what they AREN'T achieving. I can't find anything on the website that shows what's been achieved with the money raised in the Christmas 2009 fundraiser or anything since. Is it really not there or have I just missed it? This...

Re: RD.net to be re-revamped!
Hi Heather It's all just so disappointing to see that there still doesn't appear to be an understanding that people who donate money (and time/energy) should be given the courtesy of knowing the impact of their donations. Plans are great but where is the update on what's been achieved? I keep giving...

Re: RD.net to be re-revamped!
I don't know what's going on with RDFRS but it's always struck me as poor public relations that they haven't provided full details of how they spend the money. The last straw for me was when the forum was used for a campaign to raise money and then shortly afterwards it was dumped as though all the ...

Military Wives Choir for Xmas Number 1
I love this song and hope it makes the Xmas Number 1 - the lyrics are taken from letters exchanged between wives/girlfriends and their men serving overseas. The proceeds are going to The Royal British Legion and SSAFA Forces Help (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association). You can pre-orde...

Re: Do you ever review your values?
Yes I used to be much more tolerant about Islam but these days I'm not at all. I'm not willing to see the freedoms others have fought for in the UK be eroded by mediaeval bollocks just because it's inclusive to other views. Bugger other views if they are about eroding our freedom to be independent w...
